Primal ‘domestica’ explores the
relationship between that which is
nature and that which we create. It is
no accident that the orchid, a highly
evolved species, is central to the
piece, suggesting our own potential for
evolution. Its name echoes botanical
nomenclature, referencing my own life
experience as a student and professor
of plant science. Primal ‘domestica’’s
buttons connect our domesticated
civilized selves, once again, to that
which is essential to our bodies and
hearts.
